Knowledge of parliamentary procedures and Robert’s Rules of Order are fundamental to the orderly conduct of business, whether in a board, committee, or council meeting. This seminar is designed to teach the participants how a meeting is managed, what rules apply to motions, how to debate issues, rules that govern quorum, motions that require a two-thirds vote, as well as the roles of the parties involved. During the seminar you will explore the rules that govern meetings, motions that bring issues before the assembly, motions that are out of order, handle reports and work in executive session. By participating in mock meetings, you will gain practical experience and knowledge in using parliamentary procedures effectively. Included with this training will be a copy of the current Robert’s Rules of Order. This seminar is designed for all individuals who either conduct or participate in meetings, at all levels of Tribal government.
