Travel is a significant component of the Tribe’s budget. Federal agencies require that Tribes follow Federal cost and purchasing guidelines (including the New OMB Super Circular – 2 CFR 200) in expending their travel funds.  Some Federal agencies give Tribes the opportunity to take advantage of Federal rates for air travel.  However, all Federal agencies require that travel be in accordance with Federal travel guidelines.  This seminar provides an in-depth examination of Federal standards impacting travel, the Federal travel regulations and their interpretation, management strategies for travel in the face of Federal cutbacks, Federal tax law governing treatment of travel as a fringe benefit issue (including IRS standards), and tactics for obtaining Federal rates with airlines and hotels.  This seminar is for all financial personnel, staff involved with setting Tribal travel policies, program managers and Tribal officials.
